Join our ODMENA hub, A2K4D‘s  2nd Gender and Data Webinar at 5pm UTC +2:00 (Cairo time) 

The upcoming webinar will be held on May 8th 2018, 5:00pm – 6:30pm (GMT +2).This webinar looks to discuss different methodologies, opportunities and challenges in implementing gender sensitive methodologies. The gender consultant for the MENA OD4D Node, Reem Wael, will explore the methodological problems associated with gender in research in the MENA region, both qualitative and quantitative. Wael will further contribute her experience at Harassmap to raise meaningful questions regarding the ways in which we can mainstream gender into research design and structure.

The third webinar to be held in the near future, will focus on pinpointing the value of data-generation for policy-makers and for the general public, as well as creating gendered policy-change with open data.



“How to Build your Municipalities Open Data Plan? 

This webinar will present a step-by-step tool and guide for opening up data in municipalities, the tool was co-developed by Open North, the Canadian Federal Government (Treasury Board Secretariat), 15 Canadian municipalities and the Open Data Charter Secretariat.

The webinar will discuss practical consideration of the tool to start implementing municipal open data projects in the Colombian context and it will feature a call to action to co-translate and further co-development of the tool to adapt it to Colombian and Latin American contexts.”

Consultation on a Feminist Open Governance Research Agenda (online)

This International Open Government Week, join us on May 9 to learn more about #FOGO, and to discuss and share your thoughts and priorities for feminist open governance and help inform a research agenda to build evidence on feminist open governance approaches to create change.

What is FOGO?

As a priority of Canada’s co-chairmanship of the Open Government Partnership, Feminist Open Government (FOGO) will establish an international coalition of partners to drive inclusive participation for all in Open Government processes, support the design and implementation of new gender aware OGP commitments, and build evidence around the impact that gender equality in Open Government can have on improving governance and public service delivery.

Objectives for this consultation:

  • Discuss the definition of feminist open government and why it is important
  • Listen to the ideas of women and people around the world on potential feminist commitments that can help build ‎stronger, more inclusive open government initiatives
  • Seek input into the research priorities that will allow us to inform transformative commitments around the world

We will also announce the new OGP Open Data Strategic Thematic Partnership and share news about what to expect this year from the 2018 International Open Data Conference in Argentina: The Future is Open.
